World Hope

| October 30, 2013 | Parties

Celebrities, physicians and a glamorous crowd of supporters gathered at the Balboa Bay Resort for Global Genes | RARE Project’s annual Tribute to Champions of Hope gala, a sold-out soiree that featured the musical talents of Andrew McMahon. It’s a cause close to the Emmy-nominated singer/songwriter’s heart-Global Genes | RARE Project is an advocacy group for individuals suffering from rare and genetic diseases, and in 2005, McMahon was a patient himself, diagnosed with acute lymphocytic leukemia. But this evening was all about celebrating the leaders in health care and research who are making a difference, including Stephen Groft, Josh Sommer, John C. Carey and 6-year-old Dylan Siegel, who wrote Chocolate Bar Book for a friend who had been diagnosed with liver disease. A true champion. Photography by Carla Rhea
