Voices of Hope

Court Appointed Special Advocates of O.C.’s new CEO, Kathryn Grant, had been on the job for just 10 days when she took the stage at the nonprofit’s auxiliary group’s annual holiday luncheon and asked, “Why are you here?” Her question is a testament to CASA’s mission to train volunteers to work with abused children—and it helped motivate the crowd of 520 to give, as evidenced by the more than $200,000 netted at this stunner of a day. Guests like Britt Meyer and Sara Guggenheim Jarrett also enjoyed a reception amid The St. Regis Monarch Beach’s courtyard, took in a fab fashion show by Max Mara and threw down the dollars for an $18,000 necklace from Lugano. And, they listened as Debbi Swerdlow shared her experiences supporting a disabled foster child. Yes, CASA’s clarion call was certainly heard. –Photos by Xuong Do of Happy Photos
