The magic of the City of Lights is shining bright for the sixth year at Laguna Beach’s Vanessa Rothe Fine Art (vanessarothefineart.com) through Jan. 12. Enter Americans in Paris, Art Nouveau, an annual exhibit curated by gallery owner Vanessa Rothe featuring more than 85 exclusive works by 40 handpicked artists. Inspired by the art nouveau genre that swept Europe in the late 1800s and early 1900s, each piece celebrates the whimsy and romance of the natural world and pays homage to art nouveau greats Alphonse Mucha, Gustav Klimt and Louis C. Tiffany. Artists Adrian Gottlieb, Adrienne Stein and even Rothe herself weave feminine portraits with lush florals while Kyle Stuckey, Richie Carter and Jesse Powell provide a sense of place by depicting Paris’ iconic Eiffel Tower, soaring rooftops and meandering streets. “With a theme of nature, florals, femininity and rebirth, this exhibition is perfectly timed for our world at the moment as we get back to our roots in nature and come through the pandemic,” says Rothe. Life imitating art, indeed.
