After years of working together in the jewelry industry, Barbara Laird, Emily Cohen and Camelia Chiriac launched their Newport Beach-based brand Three Stories Jewelry at an unexpected time—during the pandemic. “We suddenly found ourselves laid off and at a crossroads. Instead of seeing it as a setback, we saw our chance,” recalls Laird. “It was finally time to take our shared passion and expertise and build something of our own, where we could tell our story, our way.” The result is a stunning collection of handcrafted 14K gold and diamond pieces that glimmer with sapphires, emeralds and tourmalines, each with a unique story to tell. “We believe jewelry is the ultimate storyteller,” says Cohen. “Each piece carries its own history—a moment, a milestone, a memory.”
Uniquely, many of their designs can be flipped—the front may sparkle with a kaleidoscope of rainbow colors, while the back shimmers with a contrast of gold and diamonds. “Every collection we create is rooted in meaningful narratives of love, nature, faith and life’s journey. We then take these stories and bring them to life in unexpected ways,” adds Chiriac. “Our pieces transform and adapt. You’ll find double-sided hoops that show different designs as they move, charms that can travel from necklaces to bracelets, and rings that flip to reveal new possibilities. It’s this combination of meaning and versatility that makes Three Stories special.”
