The Good Fight

| May 14, 2015 | Parties National

With names like boxing great “Sugar” Shane Mosley and legendary Angels baseball player Chuck Finley gracing the guest list, an event is bound to be a winner. But, then, Marconi Fight Night always is—from the silent and live auctions (Hero, a golden retriever pup, sold for $18,000) to the dinner (surf and turf) to the main event, which included a bout with Shane Mosley Jr., who won with a knockout. More than 400 guests attended this year’s soiree. VIPs snapped their photos with “Sugar” and Finley, then grabbed a drink and perused the silent auction offerings—wines, gift baskets, a bicycle and more. Between bouts, revelers battled over live auction items like a Hawaiian Island getaway and a Chopard trip to Geneva. By the time the final bell was rung, the purse tallied $350,000, making the bash’s beneficiaries, the Jessie Rees Foundation and the Marconi Foundation for Kids, the real winners. -Photos by Reza Allah-Bakhshi
