Orange County School of the Arts alum Stephanie J. Block steps into the role of a lifetime on Broadway as the iconic Cher.

An alumna of the Orange County School of the Arts, two-time Tony nominee Stephanie J. Block will fill the sky-high shoes of Cher in The Cher Show this winter (opening night Dec. 3, tickets $89-$249, Neil Simon Theatre). Featuring 35 of the Grammy winner’s hits, the spectacle follows Cher’s life both on and offstage with all those iconic Bob Mackie-designed costumes to boot. Here, Block’s best in show.

What does it mean to play Cher on Broadway?
It means that I have entered into a freedom phase of my womanhood and career. To truly embrace and embody her, I’ve had to release a lot of my own insecurities. Cher is not one to ask for permission or acceptance. She is who she is. When I take to the stage in The Cher Show, this too is my motto.

Which iconic costume are you most excited about wearing?
Her famous mohawk look is completely and totally otherworldly. The wrap I wear onstage is the actual piece she wore to the Oscars in 1986.

If you weren’t an actress, what would you be doing?
I would love to be a host on The View or have a show on HGTV staging homes—From Stage to Stage—get it?

What’s your favorite place to travel?
Cape Cod. No, the Amalfi Coast. No, Santorini. No, Kauai. Not an easy question for me!

And your last meal on earth?
Some heavy creamed pasta with a side of crispy bacon and unlimited chocolate desserts.
