O.C.’s finest chefs dish it out at Modern Luxury’s To Live & Dine bash.

There’s an unspoken rule about Modern Luxury O.C.’s To Live & Dine event: Come hungry. Very hungry. (If you don’t eat all day to prepare, that’s fine too.) That’s because this affair, which pairs cuisine from the region’s top eateries with decor from local designers, is too tempting to pass up.

About 500 gourmands—think Michael Cho and Delphine Berryhill—made their way from one side of Soka University’s Campus Green to the other, grazing on beet root-cured SoCal opah from AVEO Table + Bar’s Collin Thornton, banh mi tacos from Provenance’s Cathy Pavlos and jamon iberico de bellota from Vaca, whose Amar Santana (the Top Chef finalist), served as host. To wash it all down: drinks from HammerSky Vineyards and ZYR Vodka. These splashes were savored while foodies feasted their eyes on vignettes from the likes of EuroModa.

The final bite came when Katy Smith was crowned the queen of the Chef’s Challenge with her Maine lobster sopes—and that’s a tasty tease for the soon-to-open Puesto, wouldn’t you agree? ‒Kristen Schott
