Take a Bow

| March 10, 2016 | Parties National

There is an entire world to discover amid the halls of Bowers Museum: Global cultural exhibits, historical showcases and collections from the Americas and South Pacific take visitors on an exciting journey, all without leaving our beloved O.C. So we expected nothing less of its annual bash, a night of international style from true fashion royalty—Chinese couturier Guo Pei.

The lauded designer took to the runway during a stylish show featuring her intricate gowns—works of art that are hand-sewn by some 400 craftsmen whom she trains herself. (Also on display: her Great Queen gown, worn by Rihanna at the Met Gala.) Then there was honorary chairwoman Sultanah Hajjah Kalsom of Pahang, Malaysia, who jetted in for the affair. And our own nobility was in attendance too, with VIPs like Debra Gunn Downing, and Anne and Danny Shih spotted among the sold-out crowd.

The crowning achievement? The bash raked in $1 million for Bowers’ programs, ensuring that the destination will give us plenty more to explore. -Photography by Ryan Miller of Capture Imaging
