Sweet Child

| June 3, 2016 | Parties National

THE PARTY To be a true trendsetter, one must change the look of things from head to toe. Such is the case with the 425 fashion-forward philanthropists who helped rake in more than $275,000 during the O.C. chapter of Childhelp’s runway show and luncheon at the Island Hotel. After all, the funds will go toward the nonprofit’s programs that seek to prevent and end abuse—and the soiree brought it one (stylish) step closer to that goal. THE GUESTS Ladies and gents who came out for the fete ranged from co-chairwomen Katherine Meredith, Gina Van Ocker and Pam Pharris to the ever-chic Marie Gray (of St. John Knits fame) to celebrity ambassador Maks Chmerkovskiy (Dancing With the Stars, anyone?). They made a play for a $2,500 shopping spree at South Coast Plaza (and other goodies) and kept their eyes trained on the catwalk as models showed off finery from Bally, DKNY, M Missoni and more. THE HIGHLIGHTS The day’s spirit was, perhaps, best captured by the two couples whom Childhelp chose to recognize this year for their tireless dedication to young people: Stacey and Erik Rees of the Jessie Rees Foundation for aiding kids with cancer, and Jennifer and Anton Segerstrom for giving to countless charities throughout our community. And that’s a trend we’ll take any day. –Photos by Ann Chatillon
