It was a day to celebrate achievements when some 200 guests filled Honda Center’s Grand Terrace for 44 Women for Children’s 10th annual luncheon, which raised money for Orangewood Children’s Foundation’s scholarship program. Olympic gymnast and actress Cathy Rigby shared her personal challenges (her father was an alcoholic, and her mother raised her and her four siblings on her own), triumphs (at the time she was competing, she was the highest-ranking U.S. female gymnast) and keys to success. Other highlights included an opportunity drawing for a $4,700 David Yurman necklace and earring set—and Michelle Schmit nabbed that dazzler. But the biggest winners are the foster teens who will now be able to attend college—and see their dreams come true. –Photos by Ann Chatillon
