A-listers and water warriors celebrate our coast with a $1.4 million-plus total at the SeaChange Summer Party.

It’s a bash that rolls on the rhythms of the tides, makes a splash with a sea of celebs and, this year, crested with a tally of more than $1.4 million to preserve our world’s waters. The gala is Oceana’s SeaChange Summer Party, and the 400 coastal champs are still riding its waves.

Bruce and Karen Cahill once again opened their gorgeous villa—the palatial pad is set on a hilltop overlooking Laguna Beach—for the VIPs. Among them: funnyman Seth MacFarlane (an honoree), Jeff Goldblum (he jazzed things up with the Mildred Snitzer Orchestra) and board member Ted Danson. The debonair actor even visited each table, snapping pics with fans and sharing his passion for the cause.

The auctions were worthy of praise, with a six-day voyage on the Hemisphere—the world’s largest catamaran—that raked in $180,000. But it all came back to awardees Eve and Michael Ruffatto, and, of course, MacFarlane. He summed it all up with his words: “Environmental protection against [ocean] destruction is more pressing than any other issue facing us today. … Fix this problem, and there will be time to fix the others.”‒Kristen Schott
