They came to raise awareness about human trafficking in SoCal and to show their support for those who have survived the awful crime—and those who are fighting to end it. Yes, the Vanguard University Global Center for Women and Justice’s More Priceless Than Diamonds luncheon at the Balboa Bay Club was a sparkling affair, one that drew 300 guests and netted more than $75,000 for the cause. Among the highlights were a speech from Jody Hassett Sanchez, a documentary producer, and an interview with advocate and author Shyima Hall, who was freed at age 12 from where she had been held captive in Irvine. And then there was the presentation of the first Diamond Award, bestowed upon Diane Cranley, Bobbi Dauderman and Nicole Morris—and their dedication to local victims is a bright sign of hope for the future. –Photos by Ann Chatillon
