Oceana’s SeaChange Summer Party drew an elite crowd to celebrate its 10th anniversary soiree and raised more than $1.2 million in the process.
THE PARTY It was the 10th anniversary of Oceana’s SeaChange Summer Party, and the setting couldn’t have been more perfect—the sprawling grounds of a mansion perched high on a hill overlooking the glittering Pacific. THE GUESTS Power players like Elizabeth Segerstrom, and event co-chairs Valarie Van Cleave and Elizabeth Wahler mingled with celebs such as Ted Danson (the master of ceremonies) and Alison Pill (of The Newsroom fame). THE HIGHLIGHTS The evening began with wine and cocktails (courtesy of O.C.-based Nolet Spirits and Ketel One, natch), which guests sipped while browsing the bounty of silent auction prizes. As the sun began to set, the sold-out crowd of A-listers made their way onto the lawn for dinner and the main event: a program recognizing funny-lady Lily Tomlin and actor Sam Waterston for their ocean advocacy, and the Marisla Foundation’s Anne Earhart and Herbert M. Bedolfe III, who were named Ocean Champions. A live auction followed (a six-day cruise aboard the Hemisphere was a coveted item). By the time the night had ended, upward of $1.2 million had been raised to help protect the world’s waters, making for a very happy anniversary. -Tina Borgatta
