School Spirit

| January 21, 2015 | Parties National

Nearly 400 locals revisited their school days during the fifth annual Spirit of Excellence fete at Kia Motors America. It’s a key fundraiser for the Irvine Public Schools Foundation, and it made the grade by raising more than $400,000 net for the city’s classrooms. A reception and silent auction kicked off the affair, followed by a pep rally put on by student athletes, cheerleaders and Irvine High’s Grammy Award-winning marching band. Up next: Co-chairman Jim Rome interviewed NFL Hall of Famer Warren Moon about his career and charitable efforts. Dinner and a performance by singer-songwriter Nilu—a Woodbridge High grad—rounded things out before the final bell. We give that an A+! –Photos by Cynthia Halverson and Frank Armstrong Photography
