Ruby Reds

Nearly 300 philanthropically minded folks followed the Yellow Brick Road down to The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel for Girls Inc. of O.C.’s 60th birthday bash, dubbed the Ruby Slipper Ball. Wizard of Oz-inspired vignettes were staged throughout the reception, where youth participants showcased their strength, wisdom and courage (but of course). A three-course gourmet spread and live and silent auctions boasting winnings like L.A. Clippers suites were also on the program, and moving speeches from eight young ladies—including Adeline Guyenne, a Girls Inc. national scholar—helped shed light on the nonprofit’s powerful impact in the community. All together, the evening landed $380,000. We think Dorothy Gale would be proud. –Photos by Andreas Branch
