This Newport Beach Yorkie has the moves like Jagger.

HIS NAMESAKE IS an icon of the rock ’n’ roll world and a pop culture provocateur from across the pond. But he’s a 4-year-old Yorkie from Newport Beach who enjoys the finer things. They couldn’t be more different, right? Wrong. Simply ask owner Daryl Nelson—a popular personality among O.C.’s luncheon set, mother of two (daughter Remington and son Colton, both now grown) and a supporter of philanthropies like JDRF—how Mick Jagger (the four-legger) got his moniker. “When trying to come up with a name, my daughter was playing ‘Gimme Shelter,’ and he started dancing.” Or so the story goes. Nelson and husband Steve became parents to Mick after Remington, who travels frequently for work, gave them her pup so he’d get the attention he deserves. Naturally, Mick’s accustomed to being the golden child. When dining out with Nelson (his fave eatery is Il Pastaio in Beverly Hills), he doesn’t sit on the ground. “He needs to be held with my left arm and his head between two of my fingers so he can watch what’s going on.” And so his doting mom can feed him nibbles of Caesar salad. At home, she concocts gourmet meals (bites of filet, salmon and cooked carrots), which he enjoys at the same time as his family. (He even has his own plates—a collection of dishes picked up during the Nelsons’ European travels.) Yes, he’s a people person: “I don’t think Mick actually considers himself a dog,” says Nelson. This despite attending a doggy birthday lunch with five pooches at Bloomingdale’s at Fashion Island—his retail destination of choice for strolling and shopping for his “casual-chic” look. His trademark: a “man pony” accessorized with an Herm├Ęs or Louis Vuitton bow. “He never leaves the house without [it],” notes Nelson. Alter ego aside, Mick’s a family guy at heart. He’s happiest floating with his mom and dad in their pool or hanging out in Nelson’s arms while she gardens. Perhaps that’s because he knows he’s brought them, well, satisfaction: “Our little Mickey boy completes our family.”
