The future has already arrived, and those with tickets to this summer’s lineup of international music festivals can upgrade their gear with smart sunglasses.
As a way to kick off festival season, Ray-Ban has released a limited edition run of its futuristic shades. Only 2022 pairs of the special Ray-Ban Stories have been made, and they retail for $299.
Ray-Ban Stories are made in conjunction with Facebook and allow users to listen to music and podcasts, take calls, and capture photos and videos while protecting their eyes and cutting a striking look.
The limited edition release comes in the Wayfarer frame style and is available in shiny blue with orange lenses. The frames feature the classic Ray-Ban temple signature finished in gold, while the lenses are inspired by the burnt summer skies under which customers’ favorite music moments happen. Additional edition details are etched onto the temple’s interior.
When festival goers want to snap a picture or quick 30-second video of their favorite set, they need not whip out their phone and take themselves out of the moment. Instead, they can say “Hey Facebook” to activate the glasses.
These glasses come with a compact case for charging that revives battery life, though the glasses last up to three days when fully charged.
Uploading pictures and videos to social media is easy. Ray-Ban Stories’ include built-in integration to post on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, Snapchat and other platforms.
Many ethical questions arise around a hands-free device that allows for recording, so Ray-Ban outfitted the glasses with a light that shines whenever the glasses are taking pictures or video.
Ray-Ban Stories first launched in September of 2021, and those looking to buy earlier styles of the glasses can look online and browse up to 20 different combinations of frames and lenses, including Wayfarer, Round or Meteor frames all available for purchase through Best Buy and Amazon.
This exclusive collection is available for purchase in select Ray-Ban stores, via Ray-Ban.com, the brand’s Instagram Shop and via SunglassHut.com.
