Art enthusiasts help net $535,000 and laud celebrated creative Marilyn Minter at the Art of Dining gala, held at the site of OCMA’s future home.

THE PARTY Leave it to the creatives behind this year’s Art of Dining gala to turn a few plain tents into a breathtaking venue showcasing the paintings of Marilyn Minter (works from her Pretty/Dirty exhibit were projected—in giant form—onto the ceiling), with a cocktail lounge by Room & Board and a whimsical display of Louis Vuitton trunks stacked in the shape of the Eiffel Tower.

THE GUESTS Jennifer Segerstrom, Susan Etchandy and Twyla Reed Martin mingled with guests—some 300 total, including Dana and Rob Johnson—and were among the first to see the site that will soon be the Orange County Museum of Art’s new home at Segerstrom Center.

THE HIGHLIGHTS Patrons were treated to a four-course bounty, savoring culinary creations like foie gras terrine with fleur de sel poached plum. During the meal, a lively auction ensued, tempting VIPs with prizes such as a New York City getaway and tickets to Saturday Night Live. The payoff? A net tally of $535,000, benefiting OCMA’s art and education programs. And that’s picture-perfect. –Tina Borgatta; photos by Ryan Miller of Capture Imaging
