Southern California's Pendry Hotels & Resorts fans are in luck: Montage International and Eagle Four Partners have announced plans for Pendry Newport Beach, opening in summer 2023 following a transformation of the iconic former Fashion Island Hotel. The brand’s third property in SoCal will join newly opened favorites Pendry San Diego and Pendry West Hollywood. Located steps from beloved O.C. shopping destination Fashion Island, the Newport Beach location will bring Pendry's signature perspective on "new luxury" to Orange County.
“We have had incredible growth with Pendry this past year, opening hotels from coast to coast in some of America’s most vibrant destinations,” said Alan J. Fuerstman, founder, chairman and CEO of Montage International—which also operates Pendry locations in Baltimore, Chicago, Manhattan West, and Park City, and has plans to open properties in Washington D.C., N.J.'s Natirar, Cincinnati and Tampa over the next few years. Pendry combines contemporary design, arts and culture, and top-notch service to create a tailored experience for world travelers in properties that reflect their local communities. “Now we have an irreplaceable location for Pendry Newport Beach, and an opportunity to bring the Pendry experience ‘home’ to Orange County where both the Montage and Pendry brands originated."
“As local owners, we are thrilled to be the new stewards of the former Fashion Island Hotel at the heart of Newport Beach," said Kevin Martin of Newport Beach-based private equity group Eagle Four Partners. "We are dedicated to continuously investing in Newport Beach and elevating the hospitality experience of our neighbors and guests.” Added Eagle Four Partners' Kory Kramer: “We are grateful to the Irvine Company for entrusting us with this responsibility and sharing our vision as we collaborate with Montage International to create something extraordinary."
Among Pendry Newport Beach's 295 guest rooms will be 82 luxury suites—boasting floor-to-ceiling windows with balconies or private patios that offer ocean, harbor and bay views. Studio Munge is designing the interiors, architecture is by WATG and landscape architecture is courtesy of Burton Studio. The hotel will house three exciting new lounge, restaurant and bar experiences, as well as a pool, sundeck and cabanas. A private membership club will deliver bespoke experiences and unite a diverse group of individuals to create a community. Finally, in addition to over 14,000 square feet of meeting and event space (including a grand ballroom), the hotel will feature fitness and wellness experiences via a fitness center and Spa Pendry, which will feature eight treatment rooms and a signature health, beauty, wellness and relaxation program.
“It is an absolute thrill and honor to bring our vision for Pendry and new luxury to Newport Beach, the place we call home,” said Michael Fuerstman, co-founder and creative director of Pendry Hotels & Resorts. “Pendry Newport Beach will be a sophisticated, modern and artistic luxury hotel for guests and locals, with an elevated dining, nightlife, wellness and social scene, as well as a wholly original, one-of-a-kind community focused social membership club. We look forward to creating a distinct destination within Newport Beach.”
