Paradise Found

| October 6, 2014 | Parties National

It was an evening delivered in true SoCal style, thanks to an oceanfront setting at Hyatt Regency Surf City, a beach-chic dress code and a sold-out crowd of 800 water warriors. We are, of course, talking about Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s seventh annual Pipeline to a Cure, which this year honored the Hennessy family for its 27 years of support to end the deadly disease that affects the lungs and digestive system. Meanwhile, 16-year-old CF ambassador and aspiring drummer Shelby Klug was on hand to share her experiences with guests like Olympic gold medalists Jason Lezak and Aaron Peirsol, honorary co-chairmen Laird Hamilton and Dave Kalama, and Green Day’s TrĂ© Cool, who even joined her onstage to perform “Welcome to Paradise.” And we think that’s a fitting choice; after all, the night netted a record $1.2 million to help find a cure. -Photography by Reza Allah-Bakhshi, Omar de la Riva and Kevin Romero
