Do you love action movies, superheroes, video games and comic books? Do you ever wish you could be more than just a spectator and help guide your favorite characters to greatness as they try to fight baddies and save the world?
Thanks to web3 and a new technology-facing entertainment company, you can.

Kartik Hosanagar; a professor of technology, digital business and marketing at The Wharton School; founded Jumpcut as a means to give new and diverse creators a studio that would actually support and create their ideas. It was his way of fixing the Hollywood system, which he sees as being too risk-averse to take on truly fresh talent.
Director Joshua Mabie and trainer Travis Wong are tapped in to work on Uppercut Training Club
The start-up uses an algorithmic approach to discover trending talents on YouTube, Reddit and other storytelling platforms, and it’s been able to leverage partnerships and advisor relationships with Netflix, Sony, the Creative Artists Agency and more.
Now, Jumpcut turns to web3 and NFTs to fuel a new generation of action hero franchises. It’s called Uppercut Training Club (UTC), and it’s set to mint Tuesday, Aug. 30.
"The conventional approach to storytelling leaves us fans as mere consumers of stories—the last to see the content and with no participation in the creative process,” Hosanagar says in a press release. "Through Uppercut Training Club, we're decentralizing and democratizing Hollywood by tapping into the power of web3 to create community-driven narratives and allow creators and fans to collaborate in the adrenaline-pumping stories they want to see."
The project will put consumers and creatives together in the Metaverse, allowing NFT holders to create unique, 3D PFPs which they can then play as and insert into narratives that will play-out under the guidance and direction of writers and animators behind such hits The Agents of SHIELD, Mortal Kombat: Legacy, The Book of Boba Fett, and John Wick ‘The Continental.’
It’s a gamified experience that invites players to train their PFP fighters, complete quests and puzzles, and all-the-while build lore for their characters and the UTC universe. As the world becomes more complex, opportunities will arise for these characters and their stories to come to life in a new action-hero franchise.

UTC presents an interesting new dimension to the ways web3 platforms and NFTs can influence and impact IRL entertainment. It helps put some power back in the consumer’s hands, but you’ll have to join the metaverse to be a part of the action.
More info and partnership announcements are set to come on Twitter via @uppercutNFT as well as the official UTC Discord channel. Be a part of the story and learn more via uppercuttrainingclub.com.
