Farm-to-table takes on new meaning at The Ecology Center’s Community Table dinner series. Every Friday through Aug. 25, locals are invited to enjoy a one-of-a-kind dining experience featuring dishes prepared with ingredients harvested from the property’s 28-acre Regenerative Organic Certified farm. Taking place from 6 to 9 :30PM, the multicourse affair is led by a rotating lineup of local and visiting chefs with a variety of cuisines on offer. May highlights include a Japanese-focused feast from chef Willie Eick of Oceanside’s Matsu (May 12); a Sonoran-style Mexican barbecue from chef Drew Bent of San Diego’s Papalo (May 19); and a seafood-laden meal with nods to Italy, the Mediterranean and California from chef Brian Bornemann of Santa Monica’s Crudo e Nedo (May 26). Open through July, Southern California Contemporary Art: Gift s from the Stuart Spence and Judith Vida-Spence Collection is now on display at Laguna Art Museum (LAM). Featuring pieces from their personal collection, the Spences are giving art lovers a look at works craft ed between the 1970s and present day that span the genres, from Los Angeles’ Lowbrow art movement to West Coast Pop to California Conceptualism. “We are incredibly grateful to the Spences for their generosity in sharing their extensive art collection with Laguna Art Museum,” says LAM Executive Director Julie Perlin Lee. “The exhibition will celebrate Stuart Spence’s legacy and Judy’s continued passion for the arts, as well as our mission of presenting art that illuminates the California experience.” Expect works from artists John Baldessari, Lynn Coleman, Corey Stein and Suzanne Williams, among others. lagunaartmuseum.org
