A Movie Moment

| July 10, 2014 | Parties

They came, they saw, they conquered—yes, the 54,000 flick fans, movie moguls and celebs who attended the 15th Newport Beach Film Festival did all that (and plenty more). The eight-day extravaganza got going with the world premiere of Lovesick and closed with the West Coast debut of Chef (starring Jon Favreau, who made an appearance on the scene). In between, there were parties with entertainment that ranged from aerial acrobatics to mariachi performances to informal fashion shows. Seminars were on the ticket too, featuring the likes of film editor Joe Walker (of 12 Years a Slave) and cinematographer Matthew Libatique (of Black Swan). And, of course, movie magic happened on-screen. More than 400 works from 50 countries were shown, and awards were doled out in numerous categories, including Best Feature Film (The Sublime and Beautiful). So, who else did we spot among the crowd? Ron Livingston, David Walton, Marin Hinkle, Melanie Lynskey, Luis Bordonada—the A-list goes on. –Photos courtesy of the Newport Beach Film Festival
