Light the Night

| May 30, 2013 | Parties

A dazzling evening was in store for the 350-plus JDRF supporters who filled The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel for the org’s annual Dream Gala. This year’s theme was Lighting the Way to a Cure, and attendees helped out in that effort by shelling out the dough for auction prizes like the chance to design a Burberry bespoke trench coat and a meet-and-greet opportunity with the Chargers’ defensive coach Don Johnson and other team members. (It was the most bidded on item of the night.) Former Miss America Nicole Johnson brought a glow to the room by sharing her story of living with the disease. The affair also shined a spotlight on Wells Fargo and the Dream Guild group, which has donated more than $1 million to the nonprofit since its inception. (We must thank fashionable founders Jennifer Condas, Elyse Roberts and Adrienne Thomas for that.) The event netted $450,000 to help find a cure for Type 1 diabetes. Simply brilliant.
