Juicy Fruits

| August 17, 2015 | Parties

The nectar flowed as 250-plus oenophiles sampled global sips—think the Nicol├ís Catena Zapata from Argentina and, oh, the JCB No. 3 Pinot Noir, created with grapes from Burgundy and Sonoma County. Yes, these were among the vinos handpicked by sommelier William Lewis for The Winery’s Sunday in the Vineyard. The brainchild of Managing Partner JC Clow, the seventh annual fete pairs drinks and bites (from Executive Chef Yvon Goetz) with rare rides (it’s held at the Marconi Automotive Museum) and charity—it uncorked $85,000 for the Marconi Foundation for Kids and the Eddie Guardado Foundation. There were prizes aplenty; a suit from Lubiani (Clow’s clothier of choice) and a Tag Heuer watch raked in $3,800, thanks to Dick Marconi. Partiers could purchase prized wines too—six bottles of that pinot sold for $150 each. A final taste: Since its inception, the affair has raised nearly $400,000. We’ll toast to that! –Photos by Cory Stierley
