Jazzed Up

| April 9, 2013 | Parties

The sounds of the shore mixed with groovy rhythms and beats during the Ocean Institute’s annual Jazz Festival, a three-day musical spectacular that netted nearly $162,000 for the nonprofit. The highlight, of course, was the Saturday evening gala. Aurally enthused attendees enjoyed a cocktail reception, live and silent auctions, and a stunner of a meal. And that came courtesy of local resort chefs—including The St. Regis Monarch Beach’s Frederic Castan and The Ritz-Carlton’s Pedro Contreras—and Pear Valley Vineyards, which poured the vino. Now, about that music: Jazz greats Rick Braun, Richard Elliot and Peter White closed the night with a phenom performance, and guests drifted home on a sea of their oh, so cool tunes.
