When real estate broker Spyro Kemble and his wife, Tracy, married 25 years ago, they never imagined their lives would revolve around their posh pups. Meet 13-year-old Apollo (whom the Kembles lovingly refer to as “old man”) and 9-month-old Habibi (whose name means “my love” in Arabic). As the pride and joy of the Kemble family, the pampered pair are often found strolling the Port Streets in Newport Beach, riding in a Mercedes S Class or lounging at Gulfstream restaurant.
“These dogs are integrated into every part of our lives,” says Spyro. “On our last trip to Greece, Apollo flew with us in first class, as he’s a certified emotional support dog. Their food and health care is triple what ours costs, but it’s all worth it.” When it’s time to dine, the Kembles exclusively feed the pups natural fare from Costa Mesa’s Just Food for Dogs. “Apollo is a vegetarian, and they’re both very picky eaters, but Habibi will eat just about any of the meals they prepare,” says Tracy. As for how they keep their white coats in pristine condition, daily brushings and scheduled head-to-paw massages are standard. Health is also top of mind with weekly fluid administrations for Apollo at Corona del Mar Animal Hospital. “Dr. Hansen saved Apollo’s life, and it’s as if [Apollo] knows it,” shares Tracy. “When we go to his office, Apollo lights up. We are so indebted and grateful to him.”
Apollo is the king of the Kemble house, after all. “Apollo gets recognized from Bravo’s Real Estate Wars in public, and he truly believes he’s the king of the universe,” quips Spyro. “If he had a voice, he would tell you, ‘Thank God Mom and Dad have good jobs!’”
