Imagine That!

About 400 local visionaries and dreamers inspired innovation by raising $500,000 during the Discovery Science Center’s Annual Gala—and they had fun doing it, too. With Imagine-tinis in hand, Marta and Raj Bhathal, Walkie and Janet Ray, and other guests hit the “ice” at the center’s Science of Hockey exhibit, and went lean and green at the Eco Challenge. When they weren’t being kids again, attendees bid on silent and live auction items, danced to tunes from the Stonebridge Band—led by Gerald Ishibashi—and helped honor Emulex’s Paul Folino and Microsemi Corp. for their support of the nonprofit educational destination. But the highlight came when the center revealed its extensive expansion plans; it’s a vision of the future that’s only fitting for the night’s theme: Imagine What If and What Will Be. “Inspiration is one of the key ingredients of an education. That’s what Discovery Science Center does best!” – David Horowitz, capital campaign cabinet co-chairman for the Discovery Science Center. Photography by Ann and Rick Chatillon
