Home is where the heart is—and there was plenty of it at Friendship Shelter’s soiree, an annual affair that raised $540,000 for the nonprofit’s programs for the underserved in O.C. Cabinet members Jane Manolakas, Jeri McKenna, Teddie Ray and Keiko Sakamoto joined some 400 comrades at The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel for the gala, which kicked off with a silent auction in the courtyard before moving into the ballroom for the main event. Here, Executive Director Dawn Price noted that in 2014 alone, the residential homeless shelter’s flagship self-sufficiency program in Laguna was on track to help 50 percent more individuals than the prior year. And at the time of the gala, a record 73 percent of clients had graduated successfully. Honoree Colin Cobb, meanwhile, shared how the charity had impacted his life—he was even reunited with his children after completing the regimen. And that’s the key. –Photos by Ann Chatillon
