Alessandro Michele and Harry Styles attend the 2019 Met Gala.
If there’s anything fans adore just as much as Harry Styles’ music, it’s his fashion taste and so it's no surprise he's partnered with Gucci’s Alessandro Michele to release an imaginative collection called Gucci HA HA HA.
Serving as a double entendre, Gucci HA HA HA stands for Harry and Alessandro and also imitates the sound of laughter, which perfectly encapsulates the essence of this playful collection.
Known for his bold looks and fearless pursuit of defying gender norms, Styles truly never goes out of style, which is exactly why Michele wanted to partner with him.
“Harry has an incredible sense of fashion,” Michele said. “Observing his ability to combine items of clothing in a way that is out of the ordinary compared to the required standards of taste and common sense and the homogenization of appearance, I came to understand that the styling of a look is a generator of differences and of powers, as are his reactions to the designs I have created for him, which he has always made his own.”
Michele and Styles’ friendship began right around the time Styles released his first solo album and when Michele became Gucci’s creative director. Each gifted with creative vision and an eccentric nature, this duo is the total dream team for a new, revolutionary fashion collection.
“The idea of working together came to me one day while [Harry and I] were talking on the phone,” Michele said. “I proposed creating a ‘dream wardrobe’ with him, starting from those small oddities that come together in childlike visions. We ended up with a mix of aesthetics from 1970s pop and bohemian to the revision of the image of the gentleman in an overturned memory of men’s tailoring.”
Celebrating fashion’s rich history while prioritizing sustainable materials, Gucci HA HA HA will include a variety of garments including treated denim jackets, colorful velvet suits, pajamas, bowling shirts, lined coats and pleated kilts with leather straps. This collection aims to redefine masculine elegance by going against ritual and embracing a new wave of fashion liberation. Essentially, men’s fashion is not going to be the same as it was.
Currently on tour in Europe for his newest album, Harry’s House, Styles is staying busy. Thankfully he’ll be returning to the U.S. in August to kick off his American tour in New York. From mid October through mid November, you’ll find Styles playing 15 shows at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, Calif.
