Myles Saunders was only 9 when his mother was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s disease—and it was among the reasons why the 16-year-old was feted by Festival of Children during its opening-night bash at South Coast Plaza’s Garden Terrace. More than 460 VIPs were on hand to help praise the teen and to support the nonprofit’s communitywide charity outreach program aimed at improving the lives of kids. It’s a mission that resonates with people across the globe. In fact, the event was themed One World, and dished out international cuisine and drinks like sangria, which partygoers toasted in Saunders’ and the fest’s honor, of course. –Photos by Carla Rhea
