A Global Gallivant

It’s a can’t-miss affair for O.C.’s social elite, and this year’s Candlelight Concert surpassed all expectations, with a $2.1 million tally, superb entertainment from Grammy Award-winning jazz artist Diana Krall and KC and the Sunshine Band, stunning decor and a return to a tradition that the 42-year-old fete had once been known for—seating guests on the Segerstrom Hall stage for a sumptuous dinner.
Co-chairs Marta and Raj Bhathal, and Kelly and Jim Mazzo—aptly nicknamed the Candlelight Quartet—joined the Segerstrom family in a cocktail hour of mingling with guests like Patti Edwards and Susan Strader, followed by a pre-dinner concert featuring Krall, who sang The Beatles’ hit “In My Life (I Love You More)” in honor of the late Henry Segerstrom.
The most breathtaking moment of all, however, came when the curtain lifted on a proscenium transformed into a restaurant with views that changed with every course—from St. Petersburg to Paris to New York City. The world is a stage, indeed. -Photography by Kimberly April, Joesan Diche, Doug Gifford and Jonathan Shelgosh
