O.C.’s tennis hotshots hit the courts for the 13th annual Costa Mesa Wood Racquet Classic and raised more than $50,000 for the John Wayne Cancer Foundation in the process. The weekend served up a range of activities—everything from a silent auction (with prizes such as a custom-designed Oday Shakar dress), to a VIP gathering at the swanky A Restaurant in Newport. The main event: tournament day, held at the estates of founders Clay Peterson and Johnny McCray. And after all the forehands, backhands—and topspin, of course—competitors and winners alike put down their rackets till next year. Photos by Ann Chatillon and Adeeb Howrani
