Full of Heart

It’s a true legacy: Over the past 25 years, Mercy House has provided a place to call home for 65,000 underserved individuals. So it’s no surprise why 320 altruists filled the Fairmont Newport Beach for the Living With Heart gala, which netted more than $250,000. Attendees pledged funds to everything from emergency shelter to food—those gifts brought in $82,000, a whopping $17,000 higher than the goal—and honored founder Father Jerome Karcher and Executive Director Larry Haynes (the first employee). And the charity’s mission came to life when grad John Weber spoke about his journey. We can’t wait to see what’s next. –Photos by Timothy Huynh and Al Torrico
