Film Revue!

| June 28, 2011 | Parties

The annual Newport Beach Film Festival kicked off the weeklong event with a screening of East Fifth Bliss, where actors Michael C. Hall and Peter Fonda were in attendance. Following the festival opener, filmgoers gathered in the courtyard at Bloomingdale’s at Fashion Island for a gala reception and fashion show. The week continued with screenings of more than 400 films at various Newport Beach theaters, including the Lido Theatre—features, documentaries, shorts, and animation flicks from more than 50 countries. And, of course, Riviera was the life of the party, hosting Lido Goes Pop!, a luxe shopping village set up on the streets of Vio Oporto and Via Lido with a curated selection of pop-up shops that celebrated arts and culture throughout the week. A gallery space by Peter Blake and a denim shop by AG Jeans, which hosted a posh Champagne reception following the presentation of the documentary California State of Mind: The Legacy of Pat Brown, were among the boutiques filmgoers perused between screenings at the nearby theater. To fĂȘte closing night, the Festival and Riviera joined efforts to host a packed gala at the Lido Village following the screening of the Best Feature Film, A Beginner’s Guide to Endings.
