Fiesta Time

| June 17, 2015 | Parties National

It was a party befitting Avila’s El Ranchito’s 40th anniversary. The family-owned authentic Mexican restaurant chain, a beloved Orange County institution, served up classics from its 1975 menu—Mama Avila’s chicken soup, tacos and quesadillas. And a festive mariachi band provided the entertainment for some 100 family, friends and devoted customers who filled the Newport Peninsula eatery. Newport Beach Mayor Ed Selich was among the VIPs in attendance—he commended patriarch Sergio Avila for his hard work and dedication, and he named April 2 (the date the spot opened) Avila’s El Ranchito Day.
