The women arrived draped in dazzling jewels on the arms of gentlemen dressed in their black-tie best. Yes, it was a night of glamour and glitz, and heartwarming generosity. But we’d expect nothing less of a gala (the Heart Ball) held at The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel and co-chaired by Black, Starr & Frost power couple Alfredo Molina and Renee Dee, who shared with the 360 guests their mission to make the American Heart Association’s annual evening soiree a must-attend event. And they’re off to a quick start, as evidenced by the record attendance (Julie Ann Ulcickas and Lynn-Holly Johnson were among the VIPs) and the $550,000 raised. Live music and a gourmet dinner delighted all, but the highlight of the night came during the spirited live auction, when a four-day Italian wine country escape sold three times for $18,000 each.
