Feast of Plenty

| December 30, 2014 | Parties

Newport’s hippest gastronomes hunger for nibbles and nectars that raise the bar for excellence on our coast, and they experienced all of that—and more—during the city’s inaugural Wine & Food Festival, a weekend of exemplary cuisine and vino benefiting Project Hope Alliance and Hoag Hospital Foundation’s Circle 1000 group. To kick it off? A VIP launch party at Rick Bayless’ uberhot Red O, attended by the master chef himself—not to mention Rick Moonen and Shirley Chung, among other talents participating in the fest. They sampled cocktails, bid on auction winnings and sat down with gourmands like event founder Stefanie Salem, Project Hope’s Jennifer Friend and Hoag’s Dori Holnagel for a three-course meal with pairings from Hundred Acre Wines. And from the ceviche duo to the beef tenderloin, all agreed it was a palatable primer for the culinary bonanza ahead. –Photos by Evan Dorian of Kaptured Images
