Allbirds
New Zealand native and nature fan Tim Brown wondered why merino wool, a sustainable material, was never employed in the footwear industry—and Allbirds was born. Coming later this year to Fashion Island, Allbirds offers men’s and women’s shoes and athleisure apparel perfect for outdoor adventures. After launching its shoes in 2016, the brand now has a range of fitness-focused styles including the Tree Dasher and Trail Runner. With 2020 came the debut of Allbirds’ apparel line, as well as a Natural Run performance line and the R&R sweats collection—made with natural materials. allbirds.com
Alo
Alo Yoga co-founder Marco DeGeorge discovered the benefits of yoga at age 11, when it helped him recover from back surgery. Teaming with longtime friend Danny Harris, the pair launched Alo (an acronym for air, land and ocean) in 2007 to inspire others to practice yoga by offering unparalleled workout gear. In December, the eco-aware lifestyle brand opened a new store at Fashion Island—the L.A.-based brand’s first O.C. outpost. Best known for its studio-to-street style, Alo is beloved by celebrities and yogis alike, and recently introduced a clean skincare line, wellness products and a digital wellness platform. aloyoga.com

Buck Mason
In 2013, Venice neighbors Sasha Koehn and Erik Allen launched their men’s collection of modern jeans and tees out of a garage off Abbot Kinney Boulevard. Combining oldschool manufacturing techniques and modern technology, they created small-batch production runs, crafting pieces designed to last and that reimagined iconic American classics. A digitally native menswear brand with California locations in Los Angeles and San Francisco, Buck Mason is set to open a debut Newport Beach store at Fashion Island this May. buckmason.com
EVEREVE

The new Newport Beach branch, which opened in August, offers chic contemporary women’s clothing that enables the modern woman to feel confidently put together. Created in 2004 after new mom and co-founder Megan Tamte felt overwhelmed in a dressing room, Minnesota-headquartered EVEREVE makes shopping easy with stylists who find the best looks for each woman’s body type and lifestyle. Whether you’re in need of essential layers or a new pair of jeans, EVEREVE’s newest location—which joins L.A.’s El Segundo as the second California store—is ready to serve. evereve.com
Levi’s® Store
Levi’s new NextGen store concept—which debuted in Palo Alto after the nearly 170-year-old brand piloted the approach abroad—is utilizing technology to give denim shoppers a curated experience. Newport Beach’s first NextGen store, which opened in September, enables shoppers to customize looks by working with in-store stylists and digital tools to create exactly what they want. The immersive store features a Tailor Shop where guests can craft their own custom denim creations with patches, colored rivets and more. The new fitting rooms are designed to help you find your perfect fit, and in-store personal shopping appointments are also available. levi.com
Rails
After starting with a hat, men’s and women’s lifestyle clothing brand Rails is now in 40 countries and 1,200 stores—including a new 2,100-square-foot outpost that opened in February at Fashion Island. Jeff Abrams, an L.A. native who founded Rails in 2008, had the idea for the company while traveling around Europe on the Eurail. He sought to create a clothing line that blended the Southern California lifestyle with a refined European aesthetic. With the creation of the Hunter shirt, made with an ultrasoft rayon blend, came a whirlwind of a following and 10 years of globally influenced designs and fabric innovation. In addition to Rails Newport Beach, the company has stores in New York, San Francisco, Paris and London. railsclothing.com
