Fall is in full swing and a slew of renowned local restaurants are featuring culinary experiences that foodies must be aware of. From front-row seats at a Food Network alum cook-off to a Mayan tequila and Copa ceremony paired with a Dia De Los Muertos prix fixe menu, to charitable dinners hosted by celebrity chefs, there’s a lot to explore in Southern California’s food scene this season.

Date: Thursday, Nov. 10 at 6 p.m.

Enjoy a family-style Thanksgiving feast prepared by six of San Diego’s most renowned chefs. Each chef will prepare a holiday dish and pair a wine with it.

The impressive chef line-up includes chef de cuisine at Provisional, Brandon Sloan, pastry chef at Pendry San Diego, Tara Cortez, executive chef at Lionfish/ Serea Coastal Cuisine, JoJo Ruiz, owner of Desserts by Clément, Clément Le Déoré, and owner of Wayfarer Bread & Pastry, Crystal White, among other accomplished local chefs.

The price to attend is $160 per person, with each ticket including a $30 donation to the San Diego Food Bank. Reservations are required and can be made here.

Celebrate the culture and traditions of Dia de Los Muertos with a Mayan tequila and Copa ceremony followed by a special four-course prix fixe menu crafted by chef Richard Sandoval and the chefs of the Ritz-Carlton. With an open bar, lively entertainment, colorful decor, and an enlightening ceremony by healer Nataline Cruz, it’s sure to be a joyful, tequila-fueled celebration.

Tickets are priced at $190 per person, including tax and gratuity, and can be purchased here.

Herb & Wood’s First-Ever Chef Match For Charity

Date: Tuesday, Nov. 8 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Watch as two Food Network Tournament of Champions alums compete and craft a four-course dinner with wine pairings. Chefs Carlos Anthony and Joe Sasto will be given random ingredients to challenge them to create the first course on the fly, all of which guests will watch and judge. It’s a great night to test out your food-critiquing abilities!

Following the first-course competition, guests will enjoy three more courses, accompanied by wine pairings inspired by Anthony’s California-Mediterranean and Sasto’s Italian backgrounds. The special night will direct all ticket proceeds to the Ronald McDonald House and CJ’s Smile, in support of pediatric illness recoveries. Tickets are priced at $200 per person and can be purchased here.

Join Sandpiper Wood Fired Grill & Oyster for the first rendition of its monthly Chef’s Table series. This month, head winemaker at Santa Barbara’s SAMsARA Wine Co., Matt Brady, will collaborate with executive chef (and protegé of Christine Rivera), Marty Fay, to present a six-course tasting menu. Visit any of SOL Mexican Cocina’s locations on Thursday, Oct. 27 for a slew of enticing specials. Happy hour deals will run from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. then live music will play from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. There will be exclusive giveaways for the first 100 guests at each party.
