Building an ARC

ARC Butcher and Baker lands on the Balboa Peninsula.
Gorgeous interiors by Marín von Blöm

It’s hard not to crush on Noah and Marín von Blöm. She’s a supermodel with power tools; he’s an ubertalented chef with dashing good looks and a pyroaddiction. Together, they boast a passion and warmth that have made them rock stars in the O.C. food world. And ARC Butcher and Baker, the newest outpost in the DirtySexyHappiness empire, slated to open Oct. 1, is already buzzing. Go ahead—pull up a chair.

Located on 30th Street, it’s an approachable eatery-meets-concierge market where hanging out from sunup to sundown is welcomed. Marín, the mastermind behind the redesigned free-standing building, created the beautiful decor over the course of some three years—with her bare hands. She laid every brick herself, hung those dazzling chandeliers for which she’s become known and meticulously crafted every inch of the space’s custom tile work.
