The elegant ballroom at the Island Hotel
O.C.’s well-heeled philanthropists decked themselves in gorgeous gowns and sleek suits in classic hues, and filled the Island Hotel for what has become a must-attend soiree on our shores. Indeed, CASA’s annual Celebration of Children Black & White Ball is always a glamorous occasion. Co-chairwomen Lourdes Nark and Wendy Tenebaum joined some 450 others for a gourmet dinner, silent and live auctions, and late-night dancing. But guests didn’t forget the real reason for the bash—to celebrate and support the organization’s 29 years of service to abused, neglected and abandoned kids in our community. Attendees raised a toast to Lisa and Stephanie Argyros, and Larry Wilson for their long-standing dedication to the cause. They also listened on as Vanessa Diffenbaugh, author of The Language of Flowers, and former Juvenile Court Presiding Judge Douglas Hatchimonji shared their experiences with the foster-care system—and their words helped net a white-hot $780,000 for the nonprofit. –Photos by Xuong Do of Happy Photos
