Big Teas

| February 25, 2015 | Parties

In its first year, The Academy charter high school in Santa Ana achieved a 97 percent attendance rate, and half of its students were on the honor roll. So it’s no surprise that Orangewood Children’s Foundation’s inaugural tea benefiting the institution would be equally astounding. Held at the Balboa Bay Resort, the soiree earned $80,000 net and drew more than 250 ladies and gents. There were pours of Mighty Leaf Tea paired with little nibbles and luxury winnings. Black, Starr & Frost CEO Alfredo Molina even offered a surprise $5,000 gift certificate plus dinner for eight in the jeweler’s vault—it sold twice to Susan Samueli and Jaynine Warner.
