It’s safe to say Laguna Beach jewelry designers Gorjana and Jason Reidel are coming full circle, in a sparkly sort of way. What started in a small artist’s space in the canyon in 2004 has now become a new brick-and-mortar boutique in the heart of their hometown. The couple knew it was a perfect location for their shop from the start. “The address 190 was fitting, because the No. 19 has always been a sign we’re on the right path,” explains Jason. Adds Gorjana, the brand’s namesake: “Once it became an option, we pursued securing it.” Today, the beachy 1,000-square-foot store, which opened this past fall, boasts crisp-white walls, bleached wood, brass fixtures and marble countertops that serve as a backdrop to the timeless palette of Gorjana’s collection. The popular signature styles, like classic rose gold stud earrings and stackable silver rings, live next to layered necklaces and gold cuffs. The boutique also carries Gorjana’s exclusive gemstone line, which is crafted with one-of-a-kind stones. “I love the Power Gemstone necklace,” says Gorjana. “It comes in a variety of stones and can work in many different ways. It’s beautiful, versatile, and each stone has its own meaning.” A cute addition: the adorable mommy-and-me necklace and bracelet sets. (Gorjana and Jason are proud parents to 6-year-old daughter Sienna and 9-year-old son Tristan.) The brand is also their baby; Jason tends to stay behind the scenes, and Gorjana creates and crafts each collection. To this day, the 3-Disc necklace, released in January 2005, is her favorite. “It’s still a best-seller and really shows how timeless our pieces are.” The most gratifying part of the process? “Being able to present our story with our own voice,” notes Gorjana. For Jason, it’s when people visit the store and say they had an amazing experience. “Both have been rewarding,” he notes—that in addition to 16 years of marriage, 12 years in business, more than 200 major retailers and 1,000 locations total, and now the Laguna boutique under their belts. And while they have yet to celebrate what Jason calls a “we’ve-made-it! moment,” it’s certainly glittering on the horizon. Finishes Gorjana: “I try to be present on the journey and the path that lies ahead.”
