Flaky pastry, decadent treats, sweet confections, indulgent desserts—these top Orange County bakeries have it all and then some. Calories be damned.
1. Moulin
A trip to one of Moulin's five Orange County locations can satisfy a craving for a stroll down the Seine with a morning pastry in hand. The brainchild of chef-owner Laurent Vrignaud, the beloved bakery brings guests the most authentic Parisian experience possible with the best in pâtisserie, plus classic dishes like le croque monsieur. Spring specialties include the exotic fruit dome with roasted pineapple and coconut mousse, the exotic tarte with mixed fruits and chocolate sucree, and the pistachio raspberry choux featuring pistachio creme and fresh raspberries. 2. C’est Si Bon
C’est si Bon, like its name’s English translation, “is so good.” Since 1979, C’est si Bon has been a neighborhood staple in Newport Beach and for good reason. Bread may be the star of the show, but the shop offers plenty of other goodies as well, ranging from sheet cakes and tarts to cookies and truffle cups. Be sure to try a filled croissant or an apple puff—they won't disappoint. Newport Beach
3. Rye Goods
A newcomer to Lido Marina Village from owner Sara Lezama, Rye Goods prides itself on connecting its customers to the earth by milling its own grain and producing 100% organic, naturally-leavened breads and pastries. Some of these organic offerings include sourdough and apple cider loaves as well as caramelized onion brie croissants and strawberry galettes. Customers can make sure they get the goods they need through pre-ordering a day in advance. Newport Beach
As traditional neighborhood bakeries become harder to find—the ones with colorful cakes, cupcakes and cookies made from old-school recipes lining the shelves—French’s Bakery has staying power. At over 50 years old, French’s Bakery has stayed true to its roots with the same delicious indulgences that have delighted O.C. residents for generations. Don't miss its cookie bundles, decadent danishes and custom-decorated cakes.
