Any auto enthusiast would agree that BMWs are works of creative genius—so it’s only natural that the high-end manufacturer would partner with the Orange County Museum of Art on the opening of its pop-up gallery at South Coast Plaza. OCMA CEO Todd DeShields Smith mingled with BMW executive Peter Miles over Champagne and cocktails, while car lovers and art collectors admired the i8—just one of many sleek rides that will be displayed before the spot’s close—and video works from talents Jeremy Blake, Nam June Paik and Mungo Thomson. And, on that note: Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Macy Gray made a special appearance to deliver her own type of artistry—that of music. Her performance was flawless (she didn’t miss a beat when a car alarm went off) and featured hits like “I Try” and “Glad You’re Here.” We were too. –Photos by Carla Rhea
