Artful Party

| June 28, 2011 | Parties

Celebrating the arts and creativity, OCMA’s Art of Dining gala began with a lively reception at the museum where guests sipped on cocktails and perused the current exhibition, Alexander Calder and Contemporary Art: Form, Balance, Joy. The art-loving crowd then headed to the Island Hotel and into the decorated ballroom for an elegant dinner and celebration. Honoring acclaimed artist Chris Burden, OCMA Director Dennis Szakacs and Burden’s friend Paul Schimmel gave heartfelt speeches about the honoree. Following a four-course dinner prepared by culinary master and Executive Chef Bill Bracken, guests enjoyed a live performance by Vegas band The Rat Pack Tribute and personal photo ops at the PatrĂ³n photo lounge. Netting $400,000 by the end of the night, the Riviera-sponsored event benefited the museum’s exhibition and education programs.
