Animal House

| September 27, 2011 | Parties National

It was a wild night for animals and attendees alike during the Friends of Santa Ana Zoo’s 2011 Zoofari Gala. Themed Get Spotted at the Zoo, the 19th annual event supported the nonprofit’s efforts to bring a pair of Brazilian ocelots to the venue, and featured visits with the animals, a live auction, and aptly named bites and sips—cat scratch beet towers, black panther profiteroles and kitty-cat cocktails. Prizes included a trip to Mayan Palace Mazatlan valued at $4,100. So who was spotted among the crowd of 400? Event chairman Ed Arnold of PBS SoCal’s Real Orange local TV news show and chairwoman Sandy Segerstrom Daniels. And after all those party animals settled down for the night, the evening had netted more than $80,000. Photos by Rick Chatillon
