Agent of Change

Real estate star Mauricio Umansky sets his sights on his next alluring address: Corona del Mar.

Mauricio Umansky may best be known to the public as the dashing husband of reality TV starlet Kyle Richards on Bravo’s The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. But in his day-to-day life, Umansky is the powerhouse behind The Agency, an L.A.-based luxury real estate brokerage firm that’s clocked more than $12 billion in sales since its inception just seven years ago. And if you ask Umansky how many offices The Agency now has, expect a long pause. “We have more than 410 agents in 20 offices worldwide,” he shares. “There are so many in the works, the number is fluid.” With that growth comes the arrival of The Agency’s first office in Orange County, in Corona del Mar. “I always wanted to do it right and have the right people in place who were deeply embedded in each of these communities, with strong knowledge of the market and the client,” he says of the longtime desire to break into O.C.

His first move? Attaching his name to one of South County’s priciest listings, 31885 Circle Drive in Laguna Beach, which is currently on offer for a cool $11 million. It’s an area that’s becoming a highly desirable market for buyers. “You’re getting a lot more land and house for your money,” he notes of O.C.’s appeal in comparison to L.A.

While Umansky calls Los Angeles home, his ideal Orange County abode would include seaside living. “[This area] has some of the most beautiful beachfront for miles, and I would love to wake up to water views and be out on a boat with my family.”

As for his forecast of the local real estate scene, the outlook is positive: “The building of Pacific City, Lido Marina Village—the value here will always be growing and branching out. Even people from L.A. are finally getting it. Orange County is the coolest new spot to be in.”
