A board-certified plastic surgeon and dermatology expert, this Laguna Beach local is an ace at optimizing beauty.
Dr. Aaron Kosins (aaronkosinsmd.com) has myriad feathers in his cap. He’s a board-certified plastic surgeon with his own practice in Newport Beach, where he specializes in Piezosurgery and preservation rhinoplasty, and the co-owner of Fashion Island’s ZO Skin Centre with world-renowned dermatologist Dr. Zein Obagi. “Last November, I put together the inaugural preservation rhinoplasty meeting in the United States,” says the whiz, who spends one week each month teaching his techniques to surgeons in countries like France, England, Russia, Italy and Turkey, among others.
“I love meeting my colleagues and teaching them innovative rhinoplasty techniques. It is a special thing that people allow me to modify their noses. It is my favorite operation because you can create a much more attractive person who doesn’t look like they have had an operation.” His education equally impresses—he earned his medical degree from UC, Irvine’s School of Medicine and his MBA from UCI’s Paul Merage School of Business, and he was valedictorian of USC’s Marshall School of Business as an undergraduate.
Next, he’ll head to Nice, France, for a preservation rhinoplasty meeting where he’ll explore the other love in his life: wine. “I will be going a week ahead of time to drive through the Rhone region exploring their vineyards,” he shares. “Last October, my wife and I worked at St. Helena’s Paloma Vineyard for two weeks, and I am currently studying to become a sommelier.” Well-rounded, indeed.
When he’s not working, Kosins spends time maintaining his own level of wellness. On Sundays, he’s a regular at Jill Ann Arnold’s class at Aura Pilates & Wellness in Corona del Mar; indulges in HydraFacial and oxygen treatments at his plastic surgery office with esthetician Roxanne Wimmer, or at ZO Skin Centre with lead esthetician Dani Crockett-Ryan; and can typically be caught with a book in hand on the topic of wellness or furthering his plastic surgery education.
As for his good looks, he keeps haircuts to one time per year. “I have been growing my hair out for four years now, but when I do trim it, I book an appointment with Tony Ghattas at Kenneth Brown Salon.” He’s also a fan of quality apparel. “My favorite clothing brand is John Varvatos all day long.” Here, the dapper doctor give us a glimpse at his off-hours lifestyle.

10 AM Best Face Forward: “ZO Skin Health is the Ferrari of skincare. I use the Getting Skin Ready system, Daily Power Defense and, of course, retinol via the Wrinkle and Texture Repair daily.” ZO Skin Centre, Fashion Island and Laguna Beach
11 AM Making Waves: “Surfing is a huge part of my life. Find me, when the waves are good, at Upper Trestles. After the beach, I like to fuel up with a breakfast bowl and Protein Dream shake at Active Culture in San Clemente, or a tuna sandwich from Jan’s Health Bar in Corona del Mar.”
